Update from EQC - 9/12/11

Dear Sir/Madam
From January 1, 2012, EQC is changing the process for urgent repairs. All the arrangements for making repairs will be handled by EQC and Fletcher EQR.
Customers can no longer self-authorise urgent repairs to their property. All urgent repairs will be arranged and managed through EQC and Fletcher EQR.
However, homeowners may choose to opt out of the managed repair scheme with Fletcher EQR for repairs that are not urgent in nature, but that are required to reinstate the property back to its pre earthquake condition. If a homeowner has decided to opt out, they will have documented approval and an agreed repair strategy from EQC.
This means that if you are engaged by a homeowner to make repairs to an earthquake damaged house, you need to be sure who will pay for any repairs you carry out before you commence the work.
If the work has not been authorised by EQC or a private insurer, then the homeowner will have the responsibility for paying you directly. If the customer has opted out of the Fletcher managed repair scheme they will have the relevant documentation for you to view.
If you already have invoices with EQC that have not been paid by the 20th of the month following the date of the invoice (and the invoice was submitted on time), or we have not been in touch to discuss the invoice within this time, please email us at suppliers@eqc.govt.nz<mailto:suppliers@eqc.govt.nz>.

Yours sincerely,

Gail Kettle
Claims Manager

What this means to you:

We can no longer invoice the EQC for emergency repairs on your behalf.

If opted in to Fletchers managed repair scheme - you will need to specify with them if you wish for the work at your property to be undertaken by us.

If opted out of the Fletchers managed repair scheme - we can invoice you or your insurer directly (if preapproved)

You can use our request a job page to log any sort of job with us - it's a very simple way to make sure we get all the details needed - we will call if any further information is required.

Alternatively give us a call on 03-337-4018

We are CCC approved drainlayers, meaning that not only can we undertake repairs for the drainage located inside your property, but also co-ordinate with the council to undertake repairs outside the boundary.

Blocked Drains

We are usually able to provide a same day service when blocks are called in the morning - and a next day service when they come in later in the day. If we are overwhelmed with blocks at the time, we will let you know how long the wait is when you call.

When we come out we will attempt to clear your line
About 70% of jobs we attend can be cleared in one or two visits

Usually we first attempt to coil (105+GST), then come back and hydrojet ($136.50+GST) - each visit includes getting to site, equipment and 1 hours labour

Others may require more involved action - such as digging up the line to remove silt. - the cost for this varies widely, but can generally be achieved for approx $2000+GST

Dig Up's - Silt in the line

To clear the silt - we dig up and expose the line, break it open, hydrojet, video, repair, backfill and tidy - The average cost is $2000+GST per house on the line. These jobs can take anywhere from half a day to 2 1/2 days. We have two teams working on these.

Non-Urgent Relay's and Repairs

We are starting to schedule work for non-urgent relay's and repairs, please contact us for a quote. If you get prior approval from Fletchers or your insurer for these jobs we are happy to invoice them directly on your behalf.

Video + Report

The standard price for this is $157.50+GST which includes the first 75min, a DVD copy and a report.
